FIGHT AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING: NAPTIP CELEBRATES EGUNJOBI


The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has honoured the Chairman of Agege Local Government, Alhaji Ganiyu Egunjobi for exemplary leadership in combating human trafficking in the council area.

The award was presented by the Director General of NAPTIP, Mrs Julie Okah Donlie to the council boss in Lagos.

While delivering her address, Donlie stated that people and political leaders must begin to invest in youths so that they would not fall prey to traffickers.

She said, “We must, as people and political leaders, begin to invest resources that seek to address the factors or grey grasses which compel our youths or citizens to migrate illegally or fall prey to traffickers as chairman of Agege Local Government Council has demonstrated.

“Human Trafficking is a threat to national and human security of any nation irrespective of the level of government.”

The Director General added that Agege Local council boss has done well in empowering numerous people within the local government.

“As little as this may appear to be in the eyes of some critics, it has saved numerous lives, restores hope to the hopeless, mends broken homes and restores future leaders within and even outside the council area,” she said.

On the same vein, Alhaji Egunjobi thanked the management of NAPTIP for finding him worthy for the award.

To commemorate the award ceremony, the chairman empowered 25 residents with #100,000 each.

Meanwhile, the chairman later advised the residents to always engage their children about being self-sufficient.

The event was graced by many political and social dignitaries.-HotNewsNaija
