MY MISSION IS TO TRANSFORM ADO-ODO/IGBESA Constituency as a Lawmaker – Otunba Haroun Gbenga Oyero
Let me drop this here. It is nothing but a community project. It is a project against infrastructural abandonment and dilapidation. It is a project about the next generation. It is a project that I must not run away from. My community must be liberated from the shackles of underdevelopment.
I completed both my primary and secondary school in Igbesa and I was able to compete on equal footings with students from top high schools and Ivy Colleges of this nation in the University. Igbesa High School, Maale Comprehensive High School, Alamuwa Grammar School, Ado High School and Edu Agbara Comprehensive School competed with the BBHS and the likes of Abeokuta Grammar Schools on quiz and sports competition during my days but unfortunately the schools today are shadows of themselves. No quality teachers, no infrastructures. No conducive environment for proper academic growth.
My mum gave birth to me in the community hospital almost four decades ago. She told me not only she was adequately taken care of during childbirth but she was also given some food items and drugs that lasted for months. As at today, the hospital was never renovated or upgraded. Alagbo and trado-medical homes are better than the maternity home. No new government hospital and maternity in my community. Quacks and fake doctors have field days.
I never saw a boat during my 17 years in the community before leaving for a high institution. Today, my people have resorted to the primitive way of transportation to Lagos through racketeer wooden boats to connect Lagos due to total neglect and dilapidation of our roads!
Lusada market was once a market for Lagosians. It served as a major economic hub for my people. Today the market is a shadow of itself. No one what to visit the market because its access road is bad and completely dilapidated.
Agbara was known all of over the world as the seat of major industries beneficial to both Lagos and Ogun State. In those days, after finishing from the University your target would be to work in any industry in Agbara because the Nestles and the Unilevers and other multinationals were there. The likes of Otunba Gbenga Daniels worked with Metal Box/ Better Glass Agbara before he went into private business. Today, Agbara is gradually becoming a neglected town. Every company is moving out the town because of infrastructural abandonment. Roads are abandoned. Company wasted and spent more in moving their finished goods from the town. This is nothing but a grand plan to cripple the town that lays golden eggs for my dear Ogun State.
In all this, I realised some elders put their businesses, their names and their families on the line for some of us to become what we are today and we will be ungrateful to the next generation if we cannot do the same for them. It is not an easy decision. It is a decision we must take for the sake of prosperity.
I sincerely inform you, after series of consultation across the constituency, my fellow kinsmen that I offer myself to represent our community, Ado-Odo/Igbesa State Constituency in Ogun State House of Assembly on the platform of African Democratic Congress, ADC. This is a community project. I can’t do it alone. I seek for your supports either you are in the country or your in the diaspora. We all owe a responsibility to making our community a better place for the people living there and the next generation.
