What could have turned out to be a serious disaster which could have led to loss of lives and properties was today averted by members of the Nigeria Police, Lagos Response Unit(LRU), Lagos Fire Service, Lagos Neighborhood Security Watch, Some concerned Lagosians and #AGEGE #TV #Crew.
We got a distress call from a passersby who alerted us of some miscreants and members of the public scooping FUEL from a burst NNPC PETROL PIPE along #OBA #AKRAN #ROAD just by GUINNESS NIG. PLC HEADQUARTERS.
The miscreants were seen with different sizes of Plastic Jerry Cans Scooping Fuel from the Public drainage system into their Gallons and Jerry Cans.
But the timely intervention of the Nigeria Police from MANCENTER POLICE STATION, Ikeja and other concerned government authorities took control of the illegal activity by these miscreants, some where arrested and taken to the Police Station while others took to their heels on sighting the Law enforcement agencies.
The Fire Service team was also on standby should in case there is a fire fire outbreak, but they latter neutralize the Fuel on the Surface of public drainage system with some chemicals while spot was barricaded and cordoned off, so as to prevent people from accessing the spot. The point of leakage was latter traced to a nearby company within the axis and blocked.
The management of the Company claimed to have no knowledge of the leaking pipe, but appreciated the efforts of members of the LAGOS NEIGHBORHOOD SECURITY WATCH “LNSC” who came to notify them and it was blocked immediately.
We are using this medium to inform members of the public to avoid Scoping of FUEL OR DIESEL from A BURST OR LEAKING NNPC PIPELINE so as to avert loss of lives….
